Based in Central Wisconsin, Jessie Crandall is a bassist and composer who has performed with artists such as Linda May Han Oh, Benny Benack III, Carl Allen, Ted Nash, Ben Allison, Mike Kocour, Dane Richeson, and John Daniel.
Raised in De Pere, Wisconsin, she was a finalist at the International Society of Bassists Competition (Jazz Division) and a recipient of the Melvin R. Laird Exceptional Artist Award in 2023.
Jessie graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in winter 2023 with a bachelor’s in jazz studies. During her time at UWSP, she was the Jazz Society President and Jazz Area Assistant Manager. She maintained a place in the top Jazz Ensemble throughout her three-and-a-half years there and pursued continued studies in classical bass, classical piano, and jazz piano.
Her original compositions are written for small ensembles and played in the Mathew Chapman Quintet, Colt Maichle Quintet, Jessie Crandall Quintet/Trio as well as any other small groups she plays with as a sideman.
