Based in Central Wisconsin, Jessie Crandall is a bassist and composer who has performed with artists such as Benny Benack III, Mar Vilaseca, Erin Krebs, Eric Koppa, Kurt Shipe, and John Daniel.
She was a finalist at the International Society of Bassists Competition (Jazz Division) and a recipient of the Melvin R. Laird Exceptional Artist Award in 2023.
Jessie graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in winter 2023 with a bachelor’s in jazz studies. During her time at UWSP, she was the Jazz Society President and Jazz Area Assistant Manager. She maintained a place in the top Jazz Ensemble throughout her three-and-a-half years there and pursued continued studies in classical bass, classical piano, and jazz piano.
Her original jazz compositions are written for small ensembles and played in her quintet, the Point of Jazz. She enjoys performing in this group as a founding member and as an on-call sideman in different groups across Wisconsin.
Jessie deeply loves teaches piano in addition to playing jazz bass and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Education from UWSP for piano studio pedagogy.
